Costa Rica is made up of several micro climate areas. Our route to Arenal and back took us through several of these. The green line is our “out” route and the red line is our “return” route, all in North West CR. The circle is 600K or a little less with some back tracking.
We left Coco bright and early on Wed. March 14 stopping at the Burger King, yes, BK and McDonald’s are here both at the intersection that joins the Pan American Highway at Liberia, for a breakfast sandwich. We watched the vendors standing in the middle of the road selling sunglasses, cashews, cell phone chargers and to our minds risking their lives. Purchases must be quick as the lights change and cars and trucks seem to go every-which-way. Lines on the road are either feint or non existent.
